Senior Citizen Center Hodoš
The rather large building envelope volume of the new senior citizen center is situated on a site in the centre of the village. There is a crossing of the street and the path to the church next to the site, which promotes the Home to the status of an important village house. The design of the building and the exterior space creates a unity with the site and references the morphology of the village space. The building introduces contemporary architecture into the community; this architecture is, however, regionally justified. The house rises from the ground, hence the use of brick. From the ground floor entrance, the space flows into the central gallery and up the stairs into the library, the café, and finally outside, into the park. The way the entrance square and the park are connected is crucial for the quality of experience and orientation in the Home. An urban space “en miniature” is created in the house: a gallery, a place to experience and communicate. With its niches, bookshelves, the gallery, Internet access points, etc., the corridor has the function of an extended living space; it all goes towards creating a suitable and befitting ambient for senior citizens.
