Renovation of the Trnovo Kindergarten Atrium

The renovation of the Trnovo Kindergarten required designing a new fire exit in the first floor. We take this purely functional requirement as an opportunity to completely renovate the atrium in front of the kindergarten. The atrium is converted into a cosy playground area for children. The soft tartan floors, water playground, a tree with a bench, serving as a resting area in the shade, create a pleasant environment for child’s play. The new, higher front rail is equipped with a new sign VRTEC TROVO. The main design element is the steel staircase, resting on a snail-shaped concrete pedestal. The concrete snail becomes another playground element, serving as a hiding place for children, or as an improvised bench, or as some other fantasy element.
