Primary School Ajdovščina
The school comprises two volumes and a central connecting section, which organically integrates into the design of the footpath axis as its continuation and termination in nature with a panorama formed by the hills. The connecting section contains the entrance hall and the cafeteria, which doubles as a multipurpose hall. The boundary of the school’s plaza and the entrance to the school is realised by roof a supported by piers, which enables covered connections between the entrances and the access drive, serves as a bus stop canopy, and represents a symbolic centre of the school. The canopy features rounded edges and large round openings with trees growing through them. The school tells the story of an urban space of the city – interprets the urban history of fort Castra – as a new centre of knowledge, history, and identity.
